Going to the zoo?

Friday Hunny and I had just watched We Bought a Zoo(great movie) and it inspired me to want to visit a zoo, since we can't buy one ourselves. So then we decided sense the next day was Saturday we would go to the Seoul Grand Park Zoo. It would work out great because we were going into Seoul anyway to help clean the church. After scrubbing toilets and eating doughnuts (after washing hands) we found our way to the Zoo. Let me just say it isn't called Seoul GRAND Park for nothing. This place was massive! And we were just looking at the zoo portion.

We rethought going earlier this morning because the weatherman said it was going to be cold and windy and a reason we thought going would be a good idea is because it had been warming up and we wanted to get out and enjoy the sun. But when an idea gets set, you tend to forget you changed your mind. We pulled in and started walking commenting on the cold, wondering if we still wanted to do this but we had already paid for parking so I wasn't about to turn back now.
Once we got in and looked around a bit, we saw that a lot of the animals had indoor viewings and we made sure to take our time looking around. There were some neat animals and different ways to check them out. Like the prairie dog section had a spot where you could go under and pop your head up just like them and be on their level looking in. My favorite was the indoor giraffe room. We were high up on the same level as their heads and since they had just put out the food right next to the windows, we were RIGHT THERE at eye (and tongue) level. If it wasn't for the glass I could've touched them. I'm talking less then a yard away. And boy was one ugly! Warts or something all over his face. But man these guys were huge! We learned that a giraffe heart is about the size of my head. So cool!

We walked around a bit more and guess what... it starts snowing! Yes! White shaved ice flakes falling from the sky onto the tops of my uncovered feetsies. It was Cold! And windy! We rushed from room to room. One of them was an Insectaserium. Yup, a bunch of bugs. There were some cool geckos like in the Geico commercials and creepy looking tarantulas. But after enjoying the warmth of the green house at the end, we made a break for the car saying we would be back another, warmer, day.

I have to say, I do NOT remember the walk there being as long as the walk back to the car was. But I am very grateful for a strong husband that fought the cold, because I was incapacitated with my long sleeve and two jackets. I couldn't look where I was going or move anything more than my legs, but my sweet Hunny lead us and got us to the car. If it weren't for him I think I would've been sitting with the giraffes still. :)

  1. You would think she was talking about a blizzard. It was just a small snow flurry. It had snowed the night before on the tops of the mountains and I am not entirely convinced that it was not just the wind blowing that snow down to us.

It was windy but she gives me way more credit than deserved.

  2. Lost Boy recommends running away from that cheetah.

We went to the zoo a few months ago and it was too cold for me too! If we ever come visit you (which I would really like to do!) I want to go to the zoo with you!

P.S. I love your pet turtle! He's cute.
