This year was also thrown off a bit by it being General Conference. It was the first weekend in the states but since we are a day ahead, we end up a week behind. Go figure. So, instead of going to church, we were asked to watch it in our homes as a family. Fine by me. :) After a lazy morning, chatting with family, and a big breakfast, we watched the Sunday morning session. It was really good. I think it was Elder Holland's talk that had us scribbling the most notes. We really enjoy conference. It is like a celebration in itself. How much more exciting that it was on Easter? Sorta...
For a break in conference, there was a BBQ going on down on the base and we were invited. I decided to stay home and clean up and Hunny could run down for a bit to say hi and grab whatever food was still available. (I'm a chum for free food.) After a while he got back and started writing on a note pad. It was pretty suspicious but I let it go. When I did ask it was nothing, or at least of no interest. Until he asked me if I had opened all my eggs yet. Well of course I had, there wasn't just wasabi flavored edamame in them but some starburst jellybeans and I had been working on those.
He encouraged me to check them again and in one of the eggs was a note. Not just any note, but a clue! It was the beginnings of a "Eastercache"/I don't know! The clue lead us to outside the back window. What made it better was that the clue was a hilarious reference to my sneakily throwing food out into a makeshift 'compost pile.' Low and behold! Another egg!! And what could be inside but another clue. This one called for us to go on base. I was glad to go for the walk seeing as it was a GORGEOUS day, but I didn't have my ID. The sneaky devil whipped it out of his pocket ready to go and we were on our way.
This clue was in reference to the bus stop where I always get on the bus to Yongsan everyday. This one was a little more sneaky then just laying on the ground like the last one. After searching a bit and getting frustrated I remembered his height and climbed up on the bench to see an egg crammed between the roof and a beam. Gotcha!
We followed the clues to our mailbox, both bus stops, a playground, the bunny's cage and finally to the roof where a big egg awaited with candy, a sweet congrats love note, and 2 jade necklaces. So fun! I can't believe he put all that together in the little bit of time he was gone. And for me! What a sweet, wonderful, clever, awesome!!! husband! Need I saw that was the highlight of my day?
It was unbelievable how well everything worked out. A gorgeous day, his opportunity to hide eggs without me knowing, and even needing something to do while we waited for the boiled potatoes to cool.
Potatoes to cool? Oh, didn't I mention? We invited our cool cat friends over for an Easter dinner. While out at my fav place in Yongsan, the Commissary, I figured I would pick up a small ham since I guess that's what people eat on Easter, not sure why though. I got the smallest one I could find but was still too much for the 2 of us and thought it would be fantastic to celebrate the Resurrection with awesome friends. The food was tasty and the company was wonderful. What a great day!
I love that you have a real rabbit with your Easter baskets!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a super cool egg hunt!
