One day meandering around Academy Sports in Dothan we were looking at guns and Hunny thought to ask about one for me. There were some fellers who looked like they knew a thing or two about guns so we asked them. He only had to ask my experience level before he immediately directed us to the SIG Mosquito. He said it was even small enough to fit in my purse! O.O What did they think I did? Hang out in scary alleys? Dude?! We were looking at it for sport! These guys were serious! But Hunny was happy with their advise and recommendation since we know zilch about guns. So he plans on looking for a good price and time and maybe in the future get one.
Later, probably the next day, Hunny and I had the opportunity to visit some friends. Hunny is more willing to invite himself over to his friends to entertain him, and one of his friends owns some guns. We had nothing else planned so we called him up and went shooting. Yeah, the simple pleasures of a small town. We picked up another friend that just so happened to be in town from Alaska going to school before moving to Texas. I didn't realize or at least forgot how cool he was. Anyway, the three of us drive through the middle of no where and finally find ourselves in a backwoods paradise. 44 acres of land, trees, fields, a small pond and a gorgeous house. Oh how it solidified my desire for a small farm of our own some day. We got ready to go out back and we caught on that there was a bit of miscommunication... We said we wanted to come shoot. We didn't have a gun... or ammo... we just wanted to shoot. Thankfully our friend let us shot a few rounds anyway.
There was an empty turtle shell just off the range and I offered to set it up to shoot. And oh the looks and reprimands I got! You can't do that! What if it's being saved for something?! But just a little while later there were live turtles in the pond and the boys couldn't get the rifle ready fast enough!! Wait a minute! I'M not allowed to shoot a dead turtle?! Ugh! Guys!... No luck with the turtle so there was nonchalant long range target across the pond. Hunny took his turn and we showed him where to aim; just be careful not to shoot the ducks. POW! You would have thought he was a sharp shooter...for a duck! I swear the bullet skidded right under one! An inch higher and we could've had dinner! Hunny didn't believe us because it was SO far off from where he was "aiming". Needless to say we took the gun from him. Thankfully the duck owner did not witness this near fiasco!
After our little trip and more experience with guns and shooting we agree, first, Hunny quickly rethought getting me a gun, and second, that maybe neither of us were cut out for shooting.
P.S. If you come across an opportunity to buy a box of .22 long rounds, please buy them! We would love to buy them from you next time we see you. Thanks!
