A wonderful friend of ours from Korea found out that we would be in Alabama for a while and told us that we had to go visit her parents while we were there. So I called up her mom and had a delightful conversation with her and told her how wonderful and cheery and enthusiastic her daughter was. As we talked I began to sense where that cheery and good-natured attitude sprang from. The whole family seems wonderful!Unfortunately Mom and Dad Cheery were headed out of town the Saturday Bee and I were available to head north to Birmingham to visit them. Fortunately, in the course of our conversation we were told that we must swing by the trampoline arena they own there and enjoy a few bounces on them. We would be in Birmingham anyway, visiting the LDS temple there so afterward we headed over to AIRWALK for a bouncing good time. And a good time it was. We were a little hesitant at first, me not being a super big trampoline fan as a kid and Bee, not confident in her bounce, wondering how much fun she could have doing so. That all changed once we got there and stepped out onto that elastic flooring.
When I got there I found the atmosphere a lot like my former work; minus the gas powered karts, quarter mile track, Dale Earnhardt banner on the wall, and Sparco chairs. You fill out a waiver, you sign-up for a time block, you wait for that time block, and you enjoy some provided entertainment under the supervision of qualified staff- with additional facilities for guest's viewing and birthday parties.
My favorite corner of the facility would have to be the foam pit. I had fun bouncing along the trampoline floor and playing bounce tag with Bee but I'm not sure anything quite beats launching yourself vertically, horizontally, diagonally, inverted (any which direction you decide) into a spongy pit of eight-inch foam cubes, floundering to right yourself and then digging your way out to solid ground. They even provide a trampoline at the edge of the pit to assist you in accomplishing your preferred arrival direction and attitude. What a blast!
It took a few timid attempts but I am proud of Bee for sticking with it and accomplishing a front flip into the pit. If you know Bee you know that she does not much like it when the rest of her body is above her head. But she did it! and she did it quite well I might add.
Thank you staff for not yelling at me for staying a few extra minutes longer than I was supposed to. Thank you Mom and Dad Cheery, and the whole Cheery family for being so awesome and so kind and friendly. We really enjoy your friendship and are bless to be included in your lives. We love you guys!

Awesome!
