It is getting hot out here in Texas. The other weekend we were driving around looking for a good way to cool off, no particular plans but a few ideas, so we thought we would check out a local water park. The one closest to us was closed because of vandalism. Lame! We went to Belton and found one there but it was super packed and a line out the door. We were driving home when I saw a park with a creek. When I was a kid I lived near a park with a creek, every town should have one. We stopped at the park and let Lil' Bud play in the creek for a while. He had A BLAST!!! He is such a water baby that it's crazy. He LOVES playing in the water. This water was especially awesome because it had rocks at the bottom that he could play with and put in his mouth. Yum!
So we started out under the bridge to stay shaded but we soon migrated out into the sun a little bit onto a small rockbar (not a sandbar). I dug a little crater next to the island for Lil' Bud to sit in and splash. It was fun to dig out underneath him and to watch the water flow in and out of the little hole I made. By the time I was done moving rocks around it looked like a little dinosaur nest; or at least that is what it made me think of. Lil' Bud had fun climbing in and out of it and finding the 'perfect rock' to put in his mouth. I think he was mostly clueless of my digging. I didn't care though, I was having fun. :DThere were also some small fish near by that I tried chasing into my little crater I had made. I was successful in getting about three or four fish in but they quickly swam back out before I could close off the entry/exit point. The whole time Bee sat on the island with her feet in the water enjoying watching her boys have fun.
We knew it was time to go when Lil' Bud started turning red. We probably should have left a little before that but it worked out. Fortunately he did not get burned but he had started developing a nice tan. It is not super noticeable but you can really tell when he is not wearing a diaper.
It was a great little find and we know we will be back in the future to splash and play again sometime.
