Happy New Year 2015

Since we are in a new area this new year we don't know that many people. But thankfully the Army and the church make the world a little smaller. We know a family from Alabama days that lives close by that is also in the military and members of the church. It was exciting to discover that they were here in Texas also. We enjoyed a quiet Christmas dinner with them the other week and had a great time. Several of their friends were doing a New Year's Eve party and they invited us to come along and participate in the celebration too. There were lots of people there that we didn't know but we made new friends quickly and had fun playing games and eating delicious food. It was a blast and Lil Bud was loved by all. He spent a little time on the ground but he was quickly snatched up and passed around. All the ladies loved him.

We were able to stay longer than I thought but Lil Bud was getting tired and fussy so it was time to take him home to bed. I think we left around 10pm but Hunny and I did not crawl in bed until 11 something. It is kind of funny because the last thing Hunny says he remembers about the day is looking at the clock from bed and it saying 11:55. It was about the same for me too. We almost made it to midnight! Must mean we are getting old, or that we are...parents! :o

It wouldn't be a new year though without talking about goals!!!

I personally LOVE goals! I feel more productive, proactive, and purposeful in life when I have goals. In order to be prepared for the upcoming year, we sat down and went over what we wanted to accomplish, both major and minor. We have our long term goals and aspirations, goals for 2015, and short term or near term goals to keep us on track. We set a goal to every Sunday sit down and talk about what is on our schedule for the week and write down what we need to do that week to make our goals happen. And so far we are on track! There is still some fine tuning to be made but we are starting to get into the swing of things and it is much more natural than the first few times we did it. I feel more productive with my days. Though I might not get everything accomplished (like this blog took forever) I can look at my planner and say "Oh, I can do that right now!" Or "Oh I forgot about that, let me do that right now."

One of Hunny's goals is to get his airplane pilots licence. Though there hasn't been much time, when we look each week we try to find a time. By writing it down we remember to find time rather then forget and let opportunities pass.
One of my goals is to work on my quilt a little every day. I used to think I had to sit down and do a lot but sometimes I will cut out a few squares after a diaper change. I have gotten more done this way than by trying to dedicate large chunks of time to it. So sometimes it is better to do bite size goals to help you accomplish bigger goals.

What are your goals in life? What are you doing each month to accomplish them? Each week? It is not easy but it is exciting to see the progress.
