It's a new year! Guess that means we should write a new post. A lot happened in 2013. Most of you probably read it in our
Christmas letter. And the biggest news, that we are prego!, might also have been
seen on Facebook. Yup, I would say we are happy with how last year turned out and excited for 2014. Not only will we be having a baby, but we will be moving shortly afterward. It's a big year for us with lots of changes in store. But we still have a while before that. Until then we have some goals to keep us busy. Of course we want to keep our temple attendance up but this year we are going to be focusing on bringing souls to Christ. We plan on extending 50 invitation to others to attend church or an activity with us, so about once a week. As well as having the missionaries over once a month. The Branch goal includes going on splits with the missionaries and offering
Books of Mormon to others. We are excited for our goals and to assist in in forwarding the work.

For our New Year's Eve/Day, we had a small celebration. We enjoy the Korean tradition for the new year so we mixed it up and had a multicultural New Year, but it wasn't planned that way. We stayed up pretty late, as has become the norm, and decided to chat with family for a bit before going up to read family scripture before bed. Toward the end of our reading we heard commotion and fireworks going off. "Happy New Year," we said. We kissed, finished reading and went to sleep. We are a little boring! But in the morning we got up early and went to a nearby hill to watch the sun rise. Because there is no daylight savings, thankfully, it wasn't super early :) We were at the hill about 30 minutes before sunrise but we weren't quite early enough to beat the crowds. We planned on getting to the top right before sunrise but we did not calculate in quite so many Koreans. I bet there were some that were up there all night to get the best spots. It was PACKED! There was even a spot selling coffee and tofu soup. No cocoa though :p

We squeezed past a tight group congregated on the stairs, facing the wrong way...?, and made it to the top with several minutes to spare. Man! They were everywhere! It was impossible to squeeze to the front. We tried our best but still ended up about 15-20 people back. And since I'm so short I just watched through everyone else's camera screens (there were a lot of them). Hunny is tall enough that he was set. We stood around for a while keeping eye on the horizon but as soon as the tiniest sliver of sun peeked over the mountains in the distance a roar came over the whole crowd, "
OHHHHHH!!!!!!" Click, click, video! I got more of a time lapse view of it from jumping up and down to see over people. It was pretty [fun]. It is crazy how fast the sun really moves. So we enjoyed the scene for a bit and waited for the crowd to die down, squeezed up to the front for a few more pictures and then headed back home to warm up.

Later we decided we needed to get out of the house so we hopped in the car and Hunny randomly picked west. So we went west along the river until we saw signs a huge convention center. We decided to check it out and found a large shopping outlet across the street from it. We stopped and looked around. Bought candy and ate till
we I got sick. There is also a huge attraction, indoor beach and snow park, connected to the outlet. Obviously we were not prepared for either but we plan on going back this month to check it out. I could definitely go for some warmer weather. It has, from what it looked like on the map, a beach with waves, a few pools, and warmth! The snow part had snow... Anyway, more details if and when we go.
The convention center was closed, New Year's, should've guessed. But I started to get sick so we went back to the outlets and had dinner before heading home. I am thankful for my awesome Hunny that we can just get in the car and drive somewhere we have never been and have a good time and a fun adventure. I to many many more adventures this year and plan to make the most of each opportunity I find.
Happy New Year! Enjoy it!
You two are so beautiful! I love the picture of the two of you. What a neat thing to do for New Years Day. Darren and I talked about doing that, but I don't think I could get up early enough. Though I am getting better at that!
